RTN is a great resource to help you navigate the exciting and sometimes challenging process of purchasing a home for the first time.
Along with offering special financing programs for first-time home buyers, this spring RTN is offering two options to help you become an informed first-time home buyer: an in-depth, ten-hour series, as well as a two-hour overview seminar, which are scheduled in four different branch locations.
Our four two-hour home buying seminars will be held 6 to 8 pm in the following locations: Tewksbury Branch on Thursday, March 10; Dorchester Branch on Wednesday, March 16; Frohsinn Club in Shrewsbury (near Worcester Branch) on Thursday, March 24; and Waltham Branch on Wednesday, March 30. On March 31, we will also be holding a two-hour home buying seminar in Spanish in our Waltham Branch.
RTN partners with the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance (MAHA) to offer a comprehensive, ten-hour, first time home buyers seminar on consecutive Tuesday evenings beginning on February 23 through March 15 at RTN’s main branch at 600 Main Street, Waltham from 6 to 8:30 pm. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. When you complete all four sessions, you become eligible for a certificate that may help you qualify for a mortgage at some financial institutions or help with down payments and closing costs.
This series features professionals you will work with during the home buying process: a real estate agent, a mortgage lender, an attorney, a home inspector and an insurance agent. They review in detail what they do, what questions you need to ask the individuals you work with, and key things you can expect during the process of buying your first home.
All those who attend any of our First-Time Home Buyers seminars will also receive a $250 credit towards the closing costs of an RTN mortgage originated within one year of the seminar. Due to limited seating, we request registering for our classes. Our full schedule is available at http://www.rtn.org/plan-and-protect/financial-education/. Follow the links to register online.
