For many of us, taking a shower with soap and enjoying personal hygiene products are something we do every day without much thought. For people without stable housing who are living on the street, getting a hold of those products and maintaining personal cleanliness can be a major challenge.
To help with this need, one of our community projects this summer is collecting personal or travel-sized toiletries, personal hygiene items to donate to the Community Day Center in Waltham. This not-for-profit organization is the only day shelter in the MetroWest area, and is also an RTN employer group.
The Community Day Center offers a warm and welcoming place for the homeless and those who may feel alone and isolated. They provide access to services and assist individuals to move forward beyond crisis and toward self-sufficiency.
This effort is organized by the RTN Employees Community Outreach Committee. The Committee is made up of RTN employees who organize projects, and contribute funds and volunteer time to assist local organizations and charities in Waltham, as well as other RTN branches who support specific local organizations near their branches.
Items are being collected in branches through August 31. Your generous donations are greatly appreciated.
