Food for the Body and Soul

On Wednesday afternoon, several RTN employees joined me as volunteers to prepare and serve dinner to close to 80 men and women at Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen. Some volunteered their talents through cooking and baking, and while others served the delicious food with love. Our “summer picnic” menu included hot dogs and rolls, potato salad, baked beans, lemon and chocolate cake, and cold drinks. Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen is located at Immanuel United Methodist Church and serves a hot meal every day from 4 to 5:30 p.m. to those in need. I think I speak for my RTN workmates when I say it is a special honor to serve dinner to the folks who come in.
Funds for the meal were contributed through the RTN Employees Community Outreach Committee, made up of RTN employees who contribute funds and volunteer to assist local organizations and charities. RTN sponsors a dinner at Bristol Lodge a couple of times throughout the year. The Committee supports additional projects in Waltham, and other RTN branches who support specific local organizations near their branches. I am proud of our employees’ volunteer spirit and willingness to help those in need in the local community. It is an ongoing effort that reflects the Credit Union value of community involvement.
