Food for Body and Soul

Last Thursday, several RTN employees joined me as volunteers to prepare and serve dinner to close to 50 men and women at Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen  in Waltham. Some volunteered through shopping for food, cooking and preparing the meal, and others served the delicious food with love. Our “summer picnic” menu included hot dogs and rolls, potato salad, baked beans, cookies and cold drinks

Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen is located at Immanuel United Methodist Church and serves a hot meal every day from 4 to 5:30 pm to those in need.

We look forward to sponsoring dinner at Bristol Lodge a couple of times of year because we know the need that exists in our own backyard. It is a privilege to serve the people and experience the appreciation they have for such a simple act of kindness.

Funds for the meal were contributed through the RTN Employees Community Outreach Committee, made up of RTN employees who contribute funds and volunteer to assist local organizations and charities. The Committee supports additional projects in Waltham, as well as other RTN branches who support specific local organizations near their branches.

I am proud of our employees’ volunteer spirit and willingness to help those in need in the local community. It is an ongoing effort that reflects the Credit Union value of community involvement.

Robin Hartnett is RTN’s Assistant Regional Branch Manager and heads up the RTN Employees Community Outreach Committee.
