April is National Credit Union Youth Month.
It’s a great opportunity to spotlight some of RTN’s ongoing efforts to help young people know more about credit unions and learn money management skills.
Here’s a quick overview of a couple of upcoming financial education youth-oriented events we’re sponsoring:
RTN will be presenting a 90-minute interactive financial education seminar to teens at the Marlborough and Hudson Boys & Girls Club on April 12.The seminar covers a wide range of financial concepts and information, and provide an opportunity for the participating teens to ask questions and share their thoughts on saving and spending money. Specific topics include how to manage the money you earn now, how to plan for future earnings, and how to think about future debt. Sixteen teens attended “Your Money and Your Future” when it was presented at the Waltham Boys & Girls Club on March 28.
RTN partners with Waltham Partnership for Youth (WPY) throughout the year on a variety of projects. RTN is sponsoring and attending WPY’s Annual Linking Education and Business Breakfast on April 11.
It is worth noting that many adults who experience financial distress do not have the basic knowledge to manage their finances effectively. We aim to help young people develop the skills they need to contribute to society with a background of strong financial management skills and tools to reach their goals.
