Sarah Wilkinson of Canton received the top award of $5,000. She will be attending Union College in Schenectady, NY this fall. Alexandra Cataldo of Waltham earned $3,000 as the second-place award recipient. She will be a freshman this fall at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Grant Dolan Hespeler of Andover took home a third-place award of $2,000. He will be attending the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Each year, three college-bound students receive this special award, which is named for RTN’s former chairman and director who served the Credit Union for more than 30 years. This essay contest is open only to RTN members or dependents of RTN members.

Scholarship recipients are selected based on their written responses to a thematic-based essay. This year, applicants were instructed to “Choose a person or persons you admire and explain why.”

The Burley Scholarship reflects our investment in the next generation of credit union members. RTN is proud to play a role in helping to make the goal of higher education more financially accessible for our member families.
We thank everyone who participated in the contest, and wish all our applicants well in their academic pursuits.
