The holiday season is a busy time for all of us. At RTN, this time of year is an opportunity to give back – to the community and to our members through events at our branches, at our sponsor groups (SEGs), and by supporting events and projects in the communities near our branches.
RTN hosts its annual Member Appreciation Day on Saturday, December 14, at RTN branches in Amesbury, Brookline, Danvers, Dorchester Lower Mills, Marlborough, Tewksbury, and Waltham. The event features refreshments, giveaways, a raffle for four tickets to the Patriots v. Bills game on December 29, activities for kids, photos with seasonal winter scenes, and a visit from Santa at select locations. The event is free for members and non-members who come into the branches, and will take place during Saturday branch hours at each location.
Our employees are helping to make the Thanksgiving holiday brighter for those in need by holding food drives and other activities to help families in local communities near RTN branches. The RTN Employees Community Outreach Committee is made up of RTN employees who contribute funds and volunteer to assist local organizations and charities throughout the year. This effort is part of the Credit Union’s ongoing commitment to support programs and initiatives in the community.
RTN’s Employees Community Outreach Committee’s Thanksgiving activities this year include: collecting Thanksgiving food items for eight Waltham families at RTN’s Waltham branch; holding a Thanksgiving food collection for needy families in Amesbury and Lawrence through RTN branches in those communities; holding a Thanksgiving non-perishable food collection for the Brookline Food Pantry through the Brookline branch; and holding a toy drive to Benefit the Wish Project in Lowell through RTN’s Tewksbury branch.
The Tewksbury branch supports the Wish Project year-round through various drives and volunteer activities. The Wish Project’s mission is to provide basic furniture, home and baby goods to the poor in the Merrimack Valley in order to help them gain independence after homelessness through recycling goods back into original use.
One of our employees is a Wish Project volunteer and is our connection to get the Credit Union involved with the work of this organization. It’s a great example of our commitment to support our local communities. The Tewksbury branch’s fall drive collected and donated hats, scarves, mittens, children’s and adult coats, blankets, comforters, and baby items to the Wish Project. RTN also donated two New England Patriots tickets that went for $285 at the Wish Project’s Annual Winter Wishes Auction. The Auction was a great success, and took place on Saturday, November 1 at the Mount Pleasant Golf Club in Lowell, MA.
As part of RTN’s holiday activity in Waltham, the Credit Union is donating Visa gift cards for Our Lady’s Academy Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)’s Breakfast With Santa fundraiser in December, and donating Patriots v. Browns tickets to Our Lady’s Parish for their fundraiser.
