2015 was a year of celebration and growth for RTN. We expanded our geographical reach, served more people than ever through our financial education seminars and charitable initiatives and events in the community, and received industry recognition. While we embrace the opportunities that lay ahead, we pause to look back at some of the stories that shaped the RTN headlines in 2015. Here are RTN’s Top 5 for 2015:
RTN Turns 70
We marked a significant milestone as we celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Credit Union’s founding in 1945. We hosted family-fun events, held great sweepstakes drawings and offered one-of-a-kind promotions to thank our dedicated members for the honor of serving them. The sweepstakes included a trip for two to Las Vegas, tickets to Red Sox, Patriots and Tennessee Titans games, NASCAR Sprint Cup event, RTN Visa gift cards and a grand prize of $1,770.
On November 1, 2015, W-G Federal Credit Union in Worcester became part of the RTN family after a membership vote to join RTN in October 15. The merger allows former W-G members to take advantage of a wider offering of products and services, more branches and a larger ATM network, while RTN is able to serve more members in the Worcester area.
Bringing Home the Gold
The New England Financial Marketing Awards (NEFMA) conferred its highest honor to RTN for our FLEX Life home equity line of credit. The annual awards recognize excellence in marketing among banks, credit unions and mortgage companies. The Gold Award for FLEX Life was given in the loan category for institutions with $500 million to $1.5 billion in assets.
We once again earned BauerFinancial’s 5-Star Superior rating for financial strength and security. We have retained this top ranking for the most recent 78 consecutive quarters, securing it an even more elite status as “Exceptional Performance Credit Union.”
Walk Home raises $25,000
More than 120 walkers, volunteers and staff representing Waltham, Dorchester and Danvers, joined together for RTN’s 5th annual Walk Home in June. The 5K (three-mile) Walk raised $25,000 for the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless and its efforts to prevent homelessness, target and provide direct services, and support legislative advocacy. Walk Home 2016 will take place Sunday, June 12.
