On Sunday, June 8, RTN Walk Home 2014 raised more than $27,000 for Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless to help homeless teens and families.
This fundraising event is really three events – a 5K walk in Dorchester Park, in Waltham Common, and on the Danvers Rail Trail. The beautiful weather and spirit of generosity among all the walkers, volunteers, and speakers made the day truly special.
It was gratifying to hear remarks from elected officials in each of our Walk locations. We appreciate their hard work on the issue of homelessness, particularly related to families and education.
Walk Home is a wonderful opportunity for the Credit Union to work together with a single purpose: to help those in need by raising funds and awareness about homelessness, particularly as experienced by young people and families. The employees who took part in Walk Home 2014 represent various branches, departments, functions, and levels of the Credit Union.
I want to thank all the RTN staff who participated and helped in the planning for Walk Home 2014. I would also like to acknowledge the generosity of the many businesses and organizations who supported Walk Home 2014 through business sponsorships and donations.
I am deeply proud of RTN’s ongoing relationship with and support of Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, which is one of our employer groups. Through our three previous Walk Home events, we have raised more than $60,000 for the Coalition.
