Waltham Municipal Employees Credit Union Approves Merger with RTN

I am very pleased to share that members of Waltham Municipal Employees Credit Union voted on January 21 to approve a merger with RTN Federal Credit Union. WMECU, with nearly $8.5 million in assets and serving nearly 900 members, was founded in 1949.

The merger is effective February 1. We’re looking forward to being able to serve former WMECU members starting this Monday, February 3, at our Waltham Branch as well as at the WMECU branch on Lexington Street. The WMECU branch on Lexington Street will be closed as of February 29.

The full systems consolidation is scheduled for completion on May 1. As of May 1, former WMECU members will be able to enjoy all RTN products and services at RTN community branches.

This is an exciting opportunity to deepen our connection with the City of Waltham. Please welcome our new members who will be able to conduct business in our flagship branch here in Waltham, with access to a wider offering of products and services as well as a large ATM network.

I want to acknowledge the hard work and leadership that went into building Waltham Municipal Employees Credit Union through the years and the significant contribution these efforts represent to our ongoing operations.

As we go through this transition period, we will continue to update our staff and our members to help ensure a seamless transition and help members conduct business as usual.Ā  A Welcome Guide for former WMECU members can be downloaded here.

Please join me in welcoming our new staff and members from Waltham Municipal to the RTN family.
