Waltham Municipal Employees Credit Union Approves Merger with RTN

I am very pleased to share that members of Waltham Municipal Employees Credit Union voted on January 21 to approve a merger with RTN Federal Credit Union. WMECU, with nearly $8.5 million in assets and serving nearly 900 members, was founded in 1949.

The merger was effective February 1.  Former WMECU members may visit RTN’s Waltham branch on Main Street for help with their accounts.  On May 1, the full systems consolidation is scheduled to occur.  Once the consolidation is completed, former WMECU members will be able to enjoy all RTN products and services at RTN community branches.

This is an exciting opportunity to deepen our connection with the City of Waltham. Please welcome our new members who will be able to conduct business in our flagship branch here in Waltham, with access to a wider offering of products and services as well as a large ATM network.

I want to acknowledge the hard work and leadership that went into building Waltham Municipal Employees Credit Union through the years and the significant contribution these efforts represent to our ongoing operations.

As we go through this transition period, we will continue to update our staff and our members to help ensure a seamless transition and help members conduct business as usual.  A Welcome Guide for former WMECU members can be downloaded here.

Please join me in welcoming our new staff and members from Waltham Municipal to the RTN family.
