Write On!

If your seventh or eighth grader likes to write, they could win $500 just by putting pen to paper. Through RTN’s participation in the Cooperative Credit Union Association’s essay contest, kids who are dependents of RTN members in good standing can enter the contest and the chance to win money!

Students are asked to write by hand an essay, no more than 250 words, on the following:

“Your community, your country and the entire world continues to battle the effects of the Covid-19 virus pandemic.  Everyone has experienced changes in how we work, how we learn, how we socialize and credit unions have worked hard to continue to serve their members’ varied financial needs under very challenging circumstances – remote workers, sick or caregiving staff, Covid-19 restrictions such as masks, social distancing and protective barriers, etc.  Please share the three biggest Covid-19 impacts in your own life and how you have challenged yourself to overcome them.”

The contest is open only to students currently in seventh and eighth grades who are Massachusetts residents and attend a school in Massachusetts.  Only one essay per child will be accepted.

One first-prize winner will receive $500; seven finalists will receive $250 each and ten honorable mention winners will receive $50 a piece.
