Community Involvement

Community Involvement

The Foundation’s activities are focused in communities where RTN Credit Union branches are located. The Foundation disperses funds to organizations not individuals.

In addition, RTN supports local community projects and initiatives, and works collaboratively with members, sponsor groups and surrounding communities through financial support and volunteer participation in the local communities where RTN branches are located.

The Credit Union is proud to support organizations in our local communities throughout the year, and is particularly active during the holiday season to help make sure those in need enjoy the joys of the season. Helping homeless teens, families, and individuals is a central focus of RTN’s fundraising and community efforts.

The Foundation is ready to help those in need, especially when there is an emergency.

Giving Tuesday

Each Giving Tuesday and in the spirit of giving, the RTN GoodWorks Foundation and RTN Federal Credit Union make donations to local non-profit organizations.

On Giving Tuesday 2022, which was on November 29, the Foundation made two donations — $750 to the Essex County Foundation’s Greater Lawrence Summer Fund, which gave 4,270 children in Lawrence the chance to participate in dozens of enrichment programs last summer; and $750 to Provision Ministry in Westboro, MA, an organization that helps provide clothes, food, school supplies and home goods to veterans, refugees, underserved children and families.

The Credit Union donated $750 in denominations of $50 food gift cards to Africano Waltham, which serves youth and families from Africa, primarily Uganda, who have emigrated to this country and now live in Waltham.

Supporting our local communities is part of our social mission as a Credit Union every day.

We are proud to support these amazing organizations that are making the world a better place and make the holidays brighter for folks in our own backyard.

Walk Home

Walk Home is RTN’s annual fundraising event sponsored by RTN Federal Credit Union and RTN GoodWorks Foundation. Funds are collected by RTN GoodWorks Foundation and donated to help homeless teens and families in Danvers, Dorchester and Waltham, and support the work of Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless (MCH).

Since its inception in 2011, Walk Home has donated more than $180,000. Walk Home unites RTN employees across various branches, departments, functions and levels of the Credit Union to work together toward a single goal: to help those in need by raising funds and awareness about homelessness.
